one day, Mrs. Asad drank 3/9 of her coffee mug. Mr. McMahan drank 6 times more than Mrs. Asad. How much coffee did Mr. McMahan drink? To solve this problem you have to multiply 1/3 and 6. How do you multiply 1/3 and 6? First you say 6 is equal to 6/1 and 3/9 is equal to 1/3. Then you set up the problem. 1/3 times 6/1. After that you just multiply like normal. The top times the top and the bottom times the bottom. Then the answer will be 6/8. However you can reduce the fraction to 2. You can reduce it because 3 goes into 6, 2 times so the answer is 2. So 1/3 times 6 is 6/3 which is egual to 2.

theres a very simple way to solve this. with your whole number 6, you make it to 6/1. then you multiply 6/1 by3/9.so for you numerator you would get 18 and for your denominator you would get 9.this leads you to an improper fraction. sense you have 18/9 you need to divide 18 by9. then you will get 2.so the answer is 2.
